Adult Comprehensive Eye care services are provided through mobile units in rural areas. Patients are screened at the village itself and then they are referred to the base hospital for detailed examination and surgery, if required their transport to and from the hospital, loading as well as boarding are managed and funded by the hospital itself.
The institute has also successfully ventured into Pediatric Eye Care, by foresightedly shifting its focus from general eye care adults to children ranging from the newborns to boys and girls in their mid – teens. Over the recent years, we have screened no of less than 1, 50,000 children, out of which a good number have been from rural masses. Child eye care Program weeds out the blind or semi-blind, at the inception of this malady and ensures their early treatment, particularly amongst the rural folks.
In its endeavor to reach each and every individual of Rural Southern Rajasthan, the institute has been conducting outreach activities throughout entire Udaipur Division covering 6 districts : Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittaurgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh and parts of adjoining Ajmer Division. Our outreach activities include school screening programs, door to door surveys, camps for paediatric to geriatric (old age) groups, eye donation awareness campaigns. Giving ‘Joy of sight’ to bring ‘Sight of smiles’ Our major partners are LIONS clubs working in this region, Rotary Heritage Club-Udaipur and other NGOs including Mahaveer International, Swami Vivekanand Seva Nyas, Seva Mandir, Bhoruka Trust. Above all these, true pillars of our outreach ventures are the local village level volunteers and field workers, drivers etc. who work day and night to reach the farthest region and make eye care to available to the people of this region.
