Sh. Sanjaya Singhal founded Secure Meters, and played a pioneering role in introducing electronic metering to address tamper, fraud and poor data quality within utilities. He is a recognized expert in the energy supply chain, electronic manufacturing and business strategy.
He gave up working in the business he founded, at the age of 61 and has since dedicated himself to social causes and philanthropic work. He has set up an organisation for cataloguing Sanskrit manuscripts (www.sangrah.org).
In his role as Chairman of the Alakh Nayan Mandir trust, he mentors our team and provides expert opinion and advice on major decision areas and is actively involved in all Board Meetings.
One of the Founder members and Trustee, Smt. Bal Kanwar is wife of Founder, Late Dr. H. S. Chundawat. As his life partner, she has worked hand in hand in all missions undertaken by him during his entire lifetime, be it professional or social. Against all odds, she contributed significantly in the creation and success of Alakh Ashish Netra Chikitsalaya, (their first venture) which then took the shape of Alakh Nayan Mandir.
During the initial years of trust, she sacrificed her personal comforts, luxury and belongings for the cause of blindness. In times of financial crisis, she has significantly contributed by all means. She continues to be a dedicated advisor of Alakh Nayan Mandir and is actively involved in board meetings.
Padmaja Kumari Parmar is daughter of the House of Mewar, the former royal house of Udaipur in Rajasthan, India. The House of Mewar is the world’s longest, unbroken serving dynasty.
Padmaja’s interests and causes span philanthropy, hospitality, and health. Padmaja founded Friends of Mewar in 2013. Based in Boston, the foundation aims to preserve cultural heritage, provide access to preventative healthcare, and promote women’s empowerment and education in India.
From inspiring others through her personal experience with Type 1 Diabetes, Padmaja creates a positive social impact.
She is a member of Board of Trustees, Alakh Nayan Mandir and is actively involved in the progress of the trust. She keeps herself abreast with all the developments at Alakh Nayan Mandir and provides her expert opinion as and when required.
Dr. Manohar Singh Rathore is an Environmental Economist. He has worked as Senior Fellow at Indian Institute of Development Studies, Jaipur. He is widely traveled and a PhD guide. He has been awarded Jawahar Lal Nehru award by ICAR in 1981 and has over forty research papers to his credit.
He currently is a founder and active member of an organization, Centre for Developmental Studies at Jaipur, whose Vision is to promote a better relationship between humans and nature. They work in partnership with people, various agencies and groups to identify and design actionable solutions to social and environmental issues.
They conduct and commission multi-disciplinary studies on issues concerning the economy and society with specific focus on environment and prepare alternative development and sectorial policies.
His thoughtful ideas and suggestions contributed a great deal during the initial years of Alakh Nayan Mandir. He is a member of the Board of Trustees, Alakh Nayan Mandir, since 1997 and is actively involved in board meetings. His expert opinion on social issues are available as and when required.
Ms. Meenakshi Chundawat possess a Bachelor’s Degree as well as Master’s Degree in Business Management. She also is a Diploma in Pharmacy. She has pursued her Diploma in Community Eye Health from L. V. Prasad Eye Institue, Hyderabad.
Besides being one of the founder family members, she has been actively and full working with Alakh Nayan Mandir since 2008.
She heads the Community Eye Care Department at Alakh Nayan and is primarily responsible for all our outreach activities both camps and Vision Centre Based Community Eye Health Projects. Her role spans from planning, implementation, monitoring and reviewing all such programs. She also coordinates with the funding agencies on a regular basis regarding various aspects of project management. Besides, she is also responsible for Teaching – Training program for MLOPs and general administration of the hospital.
Dr. Laxmi Jhala is a doctorate in Philosophy. She was awarded PhD for her work on “Philosophical thought of Mahatma Bhuri Bai of Mewar in the context of Sahaj Sadhana Saint Traditions”. She has been deeply involved in the management of Alakh Nayan Mandir as a Trustee, since its inception in 1997. Later in the year 2000, she and her Ophthalmologist husband decided to give up other opportunities of career and join the trust. Her husband Dr.Laxman Singh Jhala is the Medical Director of the Institute and heads Cataract and Refractive Surgery department.
She is principally responsible for various developmental assignments within the organization and assuring continuous quality improvement programs. She coordinates with the medical team on various aspects related to the clinical quality and patient centric care approach. She has been deeply involved in the construction project of the current hospital building , which is a state-of-the-art facility. In the current capacity of a full time working Managing Trustee of Board, she coordinates with all trustees regarding various initiatives taken up, the long term growth objectives of the organization and developing strategic plan.
Besides Alakh Nayan Mandir, she is also associated with few leading NGOs of the town viz. as Member, Board of Trustee in Seva Mandir and as Vice President in Vivekanand Seva Nyas. Both of these have various social initiative ranging from women and child development, girl child education and agriculture. She is a Panel Member on the Committee of Women Rights and Domestic Violence, Department of Devasthan Trusts, Udaipur under Government of Rajasthan.
The Managing Trustee of the Institute, Dr Chundawat was born in a farmer’s family which had strong background of social service. After doing his Post Graduation in Ophthalmology in 1974, Dr. Chundawat served as an Ophthalmologist in Rajasthan Government Service in the capacity of C.A.S., Tutor and Assistant Professor and served at Medical College Udaipur, Jodhpur and Jaipur. In 1981 he went to Nigeria on deputation. He resigned on return and started his own hospital named Alakh Ashish Netra Chikitsalay in 1984, which is now turned into a Public Charitable Hospital, Alakh Nayan Mandir, and the Institute of Ophthalmology. He is widely travelled and has a lot of experience behind him.

Ms. Padmaja Kumari Mewar of Udaipur, the second daughter of Shriji Arvind Singh Mewar of Udaipur, assumed charged in 2007 as the Joint Managing Director of the HRH Group of Hotels. She is directing a series of strategic changes within the group. She represents the third generation of heritage-hoteliers; her illustrious grandfather, His late Highness Maharana Bhagwat Singhji being the first to have pioneered heritage tourism in India with the conversion of Jag Niwas Palace into Lake Palace Hotel in the early 1960s.
